1. If you need to open a DDP for other reasons, we suggest you visit HOFA Plug-ins, who offer a demo version of their DDP Player. The Treelady Studios Master CD Creator is a standalone CD authoring application that allows you to make identical master CD copies on from your PC or Mac.
2. I'd download the latest 9.5.40 installer and get access to the latest version of the Mac and/or PC DDP Players that you can send to your client. All in all it's not nearly as elegant as HOFA DDP Player Maker but it's kind of a you get what you pay for situation.

I recently finished mastering an album for a client in Australia and quickly realized that mailing a master CD wasn’t a timely option.

I’ve used DDP files from other mastering engineers before, so I was at least familiar with the format, but now it was time for me to invest in some solid DDP creating software for my clients.

What Is DDP?

Disc Description Protocol (DDP) is a format for specifying the content of CDs and DVDs.

For example, if you’re creating a master CD in Toast Titanium, you can add CD-Text for the album and individual tracks, including ISRC codes.

DDP takes all of that information, including the mastered WAV files, and compiles it into a format that allows a CD manufacturer to use for replication/duplication.

Long story short, you no longer have to mail in a master CD to a CD manufacturer. Simply upload the master DDP files, and the CD manufacturer will replicate CDs from those DDP files.

The advantage of this is ZERO errors that could possibly happen during the master CD burning process.

What’s the Best DDP Creating Software?

I’ve done a lot of research, and from what I’ve learned, the most reliable DDP software available today is DDP Creator from Sonoris.

Warning: It’s not cheap. After Euro conversion, you can expect to pay about $275.

Mathcad for mac. There are other more affordable DDP creators available, but when it comes to making a living with music, I buy the best and move forward knowing I don’t have to worry about anything.

Using DDP Creator

If you’re mastering inside your DAW then exporting each song as a final WAV file, I recommend just buying their DDP Creator Standard version.

Using DDP Creator is really straightforward.

To get started, drag and drop your final mastered WAV files into DDP Creator.

Seagate barracuda 7200.10 drivers. DDP Creator automatically defaults to “Table Locked”, so deselect that, and you’re free to change the song order, add track titles and other CD-Text information, add ISRC codes, and change the duration of time between each track.

There’s also an Edit “CD Text” button to the right that allows you to edit CD-Text for the album as a whole.

The most useful function in DDP Creator is the “Play Transition” button, which automatically takes you to the end of each song to preview how it flows into the next song.

Once you’re finished (go ahead and lock the table), you can create a master CD by going to Export > Audio CD.

It automatically defaults to a mastering standard speed of 3.8-4x for the duration of the CD burn.

I’ve found the master CD to be exactly the same as the information that I inputed into DDP Creator.

Oh, and don’t forget to save your DDP file!

Final Thoughts

Plain and simple: If you’re looking for DDP creation software, and you don’t mind the price tag, DDP Creator is a safe bet. They offer a demo trial of all of their software, so it’s at least worth checking out.
